Both physical and emotional geographies of the past are embodied in our present lives; we carry place with us. Through writing, field work, and material exploration, Jan Talmadge Davids engages symbols and forms from her past that come together to serve as an elegy that ebbs between lament and hope, fragility and strength. While engaging with landscapes over time, Davids witnessed changes and transformation within herself and the spaces that formed her. These changes are observed with ecological care and poetically reinterpreted into forms that evoke longing and reflection in the viewer.
